Adopt instead of shop
The situation : More pet rabbits are being abandoned . Why ? Because buying a pet rabbit from the pet shop or online is easy.
We understand life happens and circumstances change where owners are no longer able to look after their rabbit.
However , some parent's buy them for young children but the truth is a rabbit needs a lot of care. When owner's realize this they tend to give them up or if no large rescue centre will take them, they will simply be abandoned in the country side.
Pet rabbits do not survive in the wild.
What can we do ?
Firstly, lets educate people to not 'dump' their rabbits in the wild. Rabbit's have feelings too.
Secondly, we need to slow down the rabbit population. Unfortunately there is currently no legislation stopping people from breeding rabbits so breeders breed to make money ; But there are too many rabbits waiting in small rescue centres waiting to find their forever homes so instead of shopping, simply adopt from a rescue centre.
If no one buys from the breeders, eventually they will stop breeding.
Small rescue centres are trying their best to neuter as many rabbits as they can to slow down the population. Small rescue's like these are non profit organisations often ran by one individual who loves rabbits so we must support them so they can continue their hard work,
